An as yet un-named special chart: new, new, *new* titles

filed under , 3 September 2008, 12:29; byline — Matt Blind

As occasionally happens, I’ll think of new sorting & reporting criteria for my charts in the process of writing up one of my commentary posts; it happened last week and I feel the exercise, in this case, is definitely worth repeating.

All (but one) of these titles falls so far down the chart they don’t even register on the Midlist 500 yet. Considering the breadth of what I’m attempting, that’s saying something — You’d think the giant vacuum cleaner (a total of 10 sites, up to a top 500 pulled from Amazon and several others, 16 freakin’ hours of data entry) that comprises my current method would actually capture more of these each week.

These titles are also reported as part of the new releases and preorders, obviously, but it only takes an extra minute to pull-and-highlight these new immigrants to my database. The list is worth posting. —The only question is what to call it. I’m kinda-sorta partial to the title below, but not sure if it’s the most accurate description:

The Bleeding Edge
Pre-orders and new releases, new to the chart this week
