Oh my sweet lord Odin is that an actual sales number?

Filling in blanks on my spreadsheet (publ. info) & found a tidbit; Had to share:

OK, first: Blood+ prequel series coming out, 2 vols., first of which releases May, listed on my charts (not that my format will even be accepted as a standard) as

Blood+ Adagio 1 – Dark Horse, May 2009 [0.1] ::
(scores a single point for placing #362 in the Chapters source chart this week)

The existence of said volume is perhaps worth noting on it’s own merits, but as I surfed on over to the Dark Horse site itself to verify the pub. date (can’t trust those crafty Canadians) I ran across the following ad copy

On the eve of the Russian Revolution, our favorite Chiropteran-hunting duo masquerades as members of Tsar Nicholas Romanov’s royal chamber orchestra. Saya begins to uncover some of the strange secrets of the Romanov royal family and — of course — finds some hideous Chiropteran beasts that are doing a little masquerading of their own. Despite being one of the Chiropteran “originals,” Saya’s devoted her life to eradicating the wilder, more vicious Chiropteran spawn who prey on humanity, and this short series embraces the same mix of action, humor, and horror.

* Look for the five-volume Blood+ manga series and the Blood and Blood+ novels — also released by Dark Horse!

* Kumiko Suekane explores the mythos further with this two-volume prequel series!

* The first three volumes of Blood+ manga have sold over 52,000 copies!

Normally I’d have skipped the jacket copy from the first paragraph because DH doesn’t need me to place ads on my blog, but in this case I’ll give it a bye because of that tasty, tasty tidbit of info cited last.

[*beam of sunlight breaking through clouds*]
Actual Sales Numbers!
[*angelic chord, sustain, and... release*]

The best part is Blood+ is a new ’08 title — I’ve been tracking this!
I may finally have a key to equate my arbitrary scores based on online charts to an actual honest-to-goodness unit sales number.

(for at least one title)

if I win the lottery, Bradley Schenck will be getting a pile of cash to redesign this site from scratch.

In my head, I sound like Yahtzee (quite a feat, given my inherited U.S.-flat-midwestern-accent.)

where I start my browsing day...

...and one source I trust for reviews, reports, and opinion on manga specifically...

...and where my casual browsing usually ends, past the research for various articles that I have to do each day.

Note: NSFW. Icarus, best described as "the Thinking Man's Porn Manga." Simon does me the undeserved favor of dropping free review copies my way, which I have callously ignored to date. Simon's blog is also a must-read, for a look at the manga industry from a small indy publisher's perspective. Plus, porn.
